Proverbs 19, a false witness.

Sometime in our life someone will say something about us that is untrue. Many times we will never even know that it has happened. Sometimes we will find out that a false accusation has been made. Infrequently, it will be something that could have serious emotional impact. In those moments we will often find ourselves wondering how God could allow such a thing to happen. We may search for meaning in the aftermath of the revelation. Unfortunately, we live in a fallen world full of sin committed by sinful people. The fact that God does not step in and prevent every person from sinning does not mean that He doesn't love us. It also doesn't mean that He can't or won't redeem a sinful act.
Quite the opposite. Our Lord tells us time and again that He fights for us. He tells us not to take revenge because vengeance is His.
In those moments when you find your heart broken by the actions of another, remember that a false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free.
Pray that the offender realizes their ways and repents. If they do not, they will have someone much more capable of judgement taking care of their offense. Pray for them and let go of the pain as best you can so that you do not tie yourself to their sin by becoming bitter and angry.
